Which 2025–2026 cars are assembled in the U.S.?
The car loan interest deduction only counts new vehicles with final assembly in the United States. This list shows which popular models qualify on that point, and which well-known models are built in Mexico, Canada or overseas.
Based on NHTSA’s American Automobile Labeling Act filings for model year 2026 (model year 2025 where a 2026 filing wasn’t available). Last checked October 2026.
Some models are built in more than one country, so two cars of the same model can differ. The IRS lets you rely on the plant shown by the NHTSA VIN decoder or the “final assembly point” on your window sticker. Models marked Also built outside U.S. especially need a VIN check.

Final assembly is only one of the rules
A U.S.-assembled car still has to meet the other requirements: bought new, financed with a loan taken out after December 31, 2024 and secured by the car, mainly for personal use, and a gross vehicle weight rating under 14,000 lb. Leases and lease buyouts don’t count.
